Fabiola obviously inherited her fine fiber from her dad, ALR Hennessy, and most of her Peruvian ancestry. Her 2024 fiber report shows AFD 21.67! She produced 4 lbs of fiber!
We bred Fabiola to white Rockford Royal Cavalier in July of this year (2024) and during testing (two weeks after the last breeding) she behaved by running and spitting to let us know she was pregnant. Her due date is 6/8/2025. We have been using the spit test for pregnancy confirmation ever since we started our alpaca life in 2002. We bring the female and male back together two weeks after breeding, and when she runs away from him and spits at him, that's the message we are looking for. We repeat this two more times - a week apart. This method has worked really well for us - much easier than drawing blood and get it tested.
